General Information

Our ChubbyBuddies

Kittens are available only on occasion to approved homes.

Our babies are the result of carefully planned breeding of our cats which exemplify the breed standard. As cats’ temperaments are highly heredity, only the best quality cats, with outstanding temperaments, are selected for breeding. We continually strive for strong-type level top lines, exceptional dense coat, low to ground, well-rounded and sound British Shorthairs.

Please note that we do not sell intact kittens and all ChubbyBuddies leave our cattery already desexed. This means that all our kittens are sold without breeding capabilities and rights.

General

  • We suggest you start with some research. Educate yourself about the breed: conformation standards, possible health issues, grooming requirements, typical traits, activity level, and life expectancy. Knowing characteristics of the breed will prepare you for owning yours and easily entering into the British Shorthair conversation with us,

  • We do not mind, and in fact encourage that you ask questions of our cattery. Feel free to reach out to us you have any questions and we will try our best to answer them.

  • One of our biggest responsibilities is to place our ChubbyBuddies into homes where we believe they will continue to lead happy, safe and healthy lives. As such, we insist that our ChubbyBuddies remain as indoor cats.

  • We strive to match each ChubbyBuddy with a family that fits their individual personalities, as we want them to become family members, and not just pets.

  • We love it when people can come and bring their ChubbyBuddies home, although we are happy to discuss international shipping options if you are located outside of Singapore.

Feeding

  • Our babies are weighed and handled multiple times daily.

  • When ready, kittens are weaned onto suitable baby food.

  • Kitten kibble is left out for free feeding.

  • Water is frequently replaced throughout the day to encourage drinking.

Housing

  • Your ChubbyBuddy should never be caged except for short term confinements (if necessary) for the cat’s own safety (i.e. when cleaning the home). In our cattery, the only separation we observe is between males and females, and females with young kittens.

  • Please refrain from using clay or soy clumping cat litter until the kitten’s first year, as it may cause intestinal blockages if eaten by your kitten.

Socialisation

  • We take great pride in socialising all our ChubbyBuddies.

  • ChubbyBuddies are continually handled and introduced as early as possible to every kind of experience they are likely to be exposed to with their new family.

Bringing a ChubbyBuddy home

  • Each ChubbyBuddy leaves us with a signed contract between the prospective new owner and ourselves.

  • The cost of each ChubbyBuddy depends on its pedigree, how well it conforms to the breed standard and the size of each litter.

  • When kittens matching your preferences becomes available, you will be contacted and a private viewing session will be held when the kittens are old enough. Viewing is compulsory if you are located in Singapore as we insist on meeting the people who offering their homes to our babies. This visit will also allow you to bond with the kitten and will put you in good stead when you eventually bring your ChubbyBuddy home.

  • Sometimes people fall in love with a kitten that is a different gender than they initially thought they wanted. If this is the case, you can change your mind!

  • If you are planning on bringing your child(ren) along, please teach them to be respectful to the ChubbyBuddies and all other parts of our premises. Loud noise, abuse or rough play will not be tolerated under any circumstance and you may be asked to leave should we feel that our cats’ safety is compromised.

  • We offer lifetime support for everything from a bee sting to any behavioural issue - we want to hear from you! ChubbyBuddies are part of our family until the day they take their last breath.
